Leadpages Vs Clickfunnels: Which is Best for Your Business in 2021? (Review)

Last Updated on December 19, 2021 by Alex Birkett

Not sure which one to choose between Leadpages and Clickfunnels?

I know, It’s a tough decision to make.

Both are popular products; they share common features, offer similar solutions, and have a massive army of affiliates promoting them. So, it is kind of tricky to determine what is true and what is false regarding each of these.

Today we’re cleaning the air once and for all in this Leadpages vs Clickfunnels review.

We will take an in-depth look at both softwares, dissecting their features and get to know which one rhymes with your business goals.

Editorial note: some of the links that follow may be affiliate links, meaning I’ll get a kickback if you purchase the product. However, that doesn’t change my editorial policy, which is to speak the truth. If a product sucks, I’ll say it. These reviews are as honest as possible.

How To Choose a Landing Page Software?

Before we delve into this review, let’s first examine the crucial elements to check for in a landing page builder.

Not all are built equally. Some have focused on automation while others on affordability. But what makes a landing page builder best for your online business goals?

Professional Templates

I have used most landing page builders. As much as most try to guarantee a professional result, I’ve been impressed by only a few.

I tend to prefer software that doesn’t treat me like I’m a professional website designer. I don’t want to have to hire an additional team of designers to use a landing page tool.

The best landing page builders should provide templates that are easy to edit while still keeping the professional touch in check. We’re aiming for tools that are useful to marketers, not just designers and developers.

Dynamic Content

It’s becoming increasingly hard to capture attention. Your target audience gets so much content slapping their faces from every side, reducing their attention span. You need a landing page builder that can take advantage of that small window of attention.

While most tools have different attention-grabbing strategies, the best one so far is the use of media.

They will allow you to embed videos, Gifs, and live streams to increase engagement. Other methods include embedded countdown timers, different payment options, and visual forms.

Robust A/B and Split Testing

You don’t want to walk like a blind man on a busy road. No landing page guarantees high conversion unless you test it.

Robust A/B or split testing will allow you to taste campaigns with different landing pages before you release the best performing ones.

Alright, let’s dive into the details of each tool, starting with LeadPages

LeadPages

Source: Leadpages

Leadpages has made a name as one of the best landing page builders. If you compare it with other landing page tools like Instapage, Elementor, or GetResponse, it’s often picked as a marketer’s favorite.

Why?

The software is built for PPC campaigns and capturing leads. If you’re good at creating landing pages, you can generate some good ROI for your online campaigns.

Leadpages is primarily a landing page builder, but it has more secondary features which are equally powerful.

These are the pop-ups, opt-ins, and lead digits, a feature that allows you to get subscribers through SMS, (quite cool).

Compared to Clickfunnels, a full-suite marketing tool, Leadpages plays the top dog in landing pages. It has a wide range of landing page features that Clickfunnels can’t match.

Leadpages Top Features

There are many landing page builders. So what is it that gives Leadpages an edge over them?

Pre-built Landing Pages

This is where Leadpages kills it. They’ll give you tens of pre-built landing pages with professional designs ready for customization.

Let’s take a little walk on memory lane. Leadpages came out in 2012 with a huge boost. According to their CEO Bob Jenkins, they got hundreds of paying customers right out of the gate on the product launch date.

Every marketer wanted this new landing page software as the idea was simple. The landing page templates are already uploaded into a template machine. All you have to do is to change the text on the page and launch it.

This was possible because of the absence of the drag-and-drop page editor. It meant limited customization as you were only editing premade pages that were already high converting for other users.

But problems began when they introduced the drag-and-drop page editor. While it was a fancy addition, we all have to agree that Leadpages started to have many blurred lines.

Conversion Tracking and Analytics

As a marketer, you know how tracking your campaign performance is vital. You get a continuous flow of information which allows you to make timely decisions.

With this in mind, Leadpages has gone a step higher to ensure it provides you with the correct data to measure your marketing campaign’s success.

You get real-time analytics on your dashboard. They also have a few add-ons to beef up your conversion tracking. This is the ability to integrate it with Google Analytics, Hotjar, and Google Tag Manager.

With all these at your disposal, you can quickly determine the problem of a landing page. Furthermore, it’s effortless to see your social media metrics. For instance, the views your landing page has on social media and search engines.

LeadPages Integrations

The goal of Leadpages is to make your job easy. That’s why they have a huge list of integrations, from payment getaways, email service providers, CRM tools, webinar tools to marketing automation.

I think this is a significant advantage of Leadpages. You get all the kinds of integrations you need to crank up your marketing campaign.

The most famous Leadpages integrations are Stripe, amoCRM, WordPress, Mailchimp, Facebook ads, Bing ads, Shopify, ActiveCampaign e.t.c. Have a look at the complete list of the integrations.

How Does LeadPages Work?

Like any other landing page builder, Leadpages functionality is based on transforming web traffic into leads and happy customers. It will help you create high-converting landing pages that are unique to a specific audience.

Thanks to the new drag and drop page editor, you can knock out a couple of landing pages in an hour. This is made possible with the built-in, pre-built templates, which make the process a lot easier.

The platform gives you hundreds of customizable templates. You simply need to change the texts before the landing page is ready for launching.

Leadpages work in three different ways:

  • Selling your services/products.
  • Capture leads online.
  • Growing your audience.

For now, I’ll only show you how to use Leadpages to sell your services/products as it’s the most common. To do this, you first need to get a payment system to power the Leadpages checkouts.

Leadpages has partnered with famous payment systems like Stripe and Paypal. They process payments and deliver digital products from inside your Leadpages account.

Next, you’ll need to create the checkout pages on any part of your website. The exciting thing is that you can even embed them on a third-party site. You’ll then display your services/products using the landing pages.

Leadpages Pricing

The landing page builder is priced in three plans. You can opt to go for the annual plan, which, of course, saves you a little money. But I think monthly payment is budget-friendly.

Standard plan

You will pay $27/month for this plan. You get all the basic features you’ll need to run a small online business. Talk about free hosting, mobile-responsive templates, landing pages, and a tech-support via email.

Pro-Plan

It will cost you $59/month to get this plan. You get everything in the standard plan with additional integrations, unlimited A/B testing, and email trigger links.

Advanced Plan

You will pay $239/month for this plan. This big investment comes with premium features though. You get advanced integrations with 50 extra opt-in campaigns. You also get a quick one-on-one call start call.

Leadpages Pros

  • The interface is intuitive and easy to use.
  • Over 160 templates to choose from.
  • A lot of integrations.
  • Robust customer support.
  • The analytics are a dependable resource.
  • Very easy to integrate landing pages with different domains.

Leadpages Cons

  • It doesn’t come with a free trial.
  • It’s not possible to create a complete marketing funnel.
  • The drag-and-drop editor is frustrating.

Clickfunnels

Source: Clickfunnels

Clickfunnels is super popular in the digital marketing space. Their ads are all over.

Whether you’re scrolling through Facebook or watching a youtube video, you’ll always get a video of Russell Brunson (the founder) advertising one of their products.

They invest a lot in content educating users on how to build a funnel. A few of their content products that are interesting:

Kinda neat.

With all the hype, does Clickfunnels fit the bill as a worthy landing page and funnel builder? We are about to find that out.

Clickfunnels is a sales and funnel builder for online entrepreneurs. I describe it as your entire marketing team in one platform. Instead of having different tools for each task, you have one that can handle all tasks at once.

As a result, you get everything you need to grow your online business. These include:

  • Landing pages
  • Sales funnels
  • Webinar funnels
  • Email autoresponder (Actionetics)
  • membership sites
  • Pop-ups
  • upsells

This means you can sell, advertise, promote, and deliver products directly using Clickfunnels or from your WordPress website.

Clickfunnels has become a king in the funnel industry. According to Forbes, the software is slowly changing the online marketing industry.

As of 2019, Clickfunnels served over 100,000 paying customers and was named the fastest-growing privately-owned SaaS company in North America.

Fun fact: Clickfunnels rewards members with sales worth over $1 million (welcome to the two comma club).

Clickfunnels Features

The tool comes with many features to beef up your marketing automation. These include generating sales, adding more leads in your email list, and running events.

We’ll only discuss a few features that make it the go-to tool for marketers and digital entrepreneurs.

Templates and Drag and Drop Builder

As the name hints, Clickfunnels has given its best shot as a sales funnel builder.

A little about sales funnels. It is the buyer journey a customer will take to arrive at your product.

While 68% of businesses don’t know the power of sales funnels, the other percentage have leveraged on it to record huge conversions.

Clickfunnels comes with numerous sales funnel templates that you can customize. The visual drag and drop builder and editing features enable you to create professional sales funnels templates without breaking a sweat.

A/B and Split Testing

In digital marketing, not doing an A/B test means leaving money on the table.

Clickfunnels knows this. That’s why they have robust A/B testing to evaluate all your conversion rates and get data from your target customers.

You can see which elements don’t work and which ones will bring the highest ROI. I also love that you can test your headlines, buttons, and designs.

You get all the results of your split testing in one place. This means you can view your full stats with their progress.

Integrations

Clickfunnels has a huge list of integrations to make your work easy. They keep adding this list with more relevant apps.

Below are the most popular integrations for email marketing and payment getaways. Also, note that Clickfunnels introduced their email service provider known as actionetics.

Actionetics is more than your typical email autoresponder. It offers a direct line of communication with your customers.

You can also reach your customers through social media platforms like Facebook, SMS, or retargeting ads.

Personally, I don’t think It’s the best email marketing software. Its email list is a bit technical and it is only available on the more expensive plan.

Still, they give you room to integrate with third-party email marketing tools like ActiveCampaign, Hubspot, SalesForce, Mailchimp, Stripe, Deal Guardian, Clickbank, and webinar tools.

Clickfunnels affiliate

As said earlier, Clickfunnels is the most promoted product in the funnel building industry. It has an army of affiliates on every corner of the internet.

There are two reasons for this.

  1. Clickfunnels walks the talk.
  2. It pays handsome commissions with some of its products giving up to 50% commission.

On the other hand, Clickfunnels offer an affiliate marketing program known as backpack. This allows people to sell your product on your behalf.

The Clickfunnels account makes it easy to connect your affiliate program with robust sales funnels in a few minutes.

With backpack, you can customize your affiliate program by changing the commissions and the payment getaways. The best of all is that you can generate affiliate links that can direct visitors to your products.

Clickfunnels Pricing

Clickfunnels comes in three pricing plans, as discussed below.

Clickfunnels Plan

The basic plan goes for $97 per month. With the plan, you can make 20 funnels and 100 pages every month, connect to three payment gateways and use the share funnel features.

Clickfunnels Platinum

The plan costs $297/month. You’ll be able to build unlimited sales pages and funnels. You also get nine payment getaways and can connect with nine custom domains to sell different products on the same account.

Two Comma Club X

This plan is for enterprises making over a million dollars in return. It costs a whopping $2,497 every month.

You’ll get all the second plan’s features with more add-ons. For instance, it allows you to set up a ten-member team to use the same Clickfunnels account. You also get 27 payment getaways with 27 custom domains.

Note that there’s more to the plans. Otherwise, it would seem like a complete rip-off (I know, Clickfunnes is so expensive).
